Ferry Ride – Primarily a means of transportation, taking a ride on the ferry is a great way to pass the time. The Cross Sound Ferry has eight ships in its fleet, each of which varies in speed, size, and history. The oldest of the lot is the Cape Henlopen. This World War II landing craft participated in the Normandy Invasion and received one battle star for its service. In 1966, it became a passenger and auto ferry. Cross Sound Ferry took possession of the ship in 1983 and refurbished it to its former glory.
Lavender By the Bay – With a whopping 17 acres of French and English lavender, the fields are a sight you’ll never forget. When in bloom, the purple stretches as far as the eye can see. The lavender is in bloom three times per year with the largest batch blooming in early July. As of May 1st, Lavender By the Bay is officially open for the 2016 season. Dogs and kids are welcome!
Wine Tasting – As it turns out, North Fork is chock full of vineyards and wineries, many of which hold regular wine tastings. Many of the businesses offer a family atmosphere, like the Sannino Bella Vita Vineyard. For quality wine, a wonderful experience, and a vacation you’ll never forget, visit any of North Fork’s fine wineries!
